Stored in France
Your recordings, their transcripts and everything LARS makes from them sit on French infrastructure.
Mistral AI, in France
Speech to text and understanding run at Mistral. Each request carries one recording and nothing that identifies you.
Never trained on
Nothing you record trains a model. Not ours, and not Mistral’s.
Deleted on a timer
Recordings are deleted automatically. Seven days by default.
Nothing watching
No advertising, no tracking, and no analytics that can see a recording.
ISO 27001 infrastructure
Scalingo and Scaleway, the French platforms LARS runs on, are both certified to ISO 27001.

The short version

Your voice is not the product. LARS makes money by selling hardware. Your whisprs are not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to train anyone’s models.

What we hold

  • Your account. An email address and a hashed password. Nothing else is required to use LARS.
  • Your whisprs. The audio you record, the transcript of it, what LARS understood, and what LARS did about it.
  • Your things. The notes, todos, reminders and shopping items LARS created for you.
  • Your devices. Which LARS units are paired to your account and when they were last seen.

Recordings are temporary

01You press, say the thing, and let go.
02The audio is uploaded, transcribed, and worked out.
03It stays for seven days by default, so you can play it back and check.
04The audio is deleted automatically. The transcript stays until you delete the whispr.

A recording is kept only long enough to be understood, and then for a short grace period so you can play it back and check LARS heard you correctly. By default that period is seven days, after which the audio is deleted automatically from storage. You can shorten it, or delete every recording immediately, in your settings.

Deleting the audio does not delete the transcript. If you want a whispr gone entirely, delete the whispr: the recording, the transcript and the interpretation all go with it.

When other people are in the room

LARS can record a conversation, which means it records other people. It records only between the press that starts it and the press that stops it, and LARS/01 shows a light for every second in between, so nobody is recorded without a visible sign of it.

Telling the people you are with is your job, not ours, and in many places it is also the law: recording a private conversation without the consent of the people in it is an offence in most of Europe. Ask first. It takes a sentence.

A conversation is transcribed with each speaker marked separately, as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on. LARS does not recognise voices, does not know who those speakers are, and never tries to match them to a person or an account. The recording, the transcript and the summary belong to your account and follow the same deletion rules as everything else, so deleting the whispr deletes the meeting.

Who else sees your whisprs

Three companies hold or handle the content of a whispr, and all three are in France. Nobody else touches it.

Mistral AI

France

The audio of one whispr, then its transcript. No name, no email, no account number, no history.

Scalingo

France

Our application and database: transcripts, what LARS understood, and the things it made for you.

Scaleway

France, Paris

The audio file, and nothing else. Stored under an opaque identifier with no name attached.

Only Mistral is given the content to work on, turning your audio into text and working out what you meant. The other two are where it rests: our application and database at Scalingo, the audio itself in Scaleway object storage in Paris. Your whisprs do not leave Europe.

If you joined the waitlist

The waitlist is separate from an account. We keep the address you typed, and we pass it to Letter, the tool that will send the email when LARS/01 ships. Letter holds nothing else about you, and no waitlist address is ever attached to a whispr. Ask us at privacy@heylars.ai and we will take you off both lists.

What we do not do

No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No third-party analytics watching what you do in the app.
No selling or renting of personal data, ever.
No human at LARS listens to your whisprs.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your account deletes your whisprs, your recordings and everything LARS created for you. Write to privacy@heylars.ai and we will act within thirty days.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we will email you before it takes effect.
