Terms

These terms cover the LARS service at heylars.ai and the LARS/01 hardware. LARS is early software attached to hardware that is still being built, and this page will grow more precise as both do.

Your account

You need an account to use LARS. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person per account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

What LARS does

LARS listens, works out what you meant, and acts on it: writing a note, setting a reminder, adding to a list, drafting an email. It also records longer conversations and hands them back as a transcript and a summary. It is not always right, and a summary is a reading of a conversation rather than a record of it. Anything with consequences outside your own account, such as sending an email, asks you first.

Recording other people

If you record a conversation, you are the one recording it. The law on this differs from country to country and is often strict: in France and much of Europe, recording a private conversation without the consent of the people in it is a criminal offence. Tell the people you are with before you press the button, and stop if anyone objects.

You are responsible for having the right to record what you record, and for what you then do with the transcript. We may suspend an account used to record people covertly.

What you put into it

Your whisprs and everything LARS makes from them belong to you. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your recordings, transcribe them, understand them and carry out what you asked for. Do not use LARS for anything unlawful.

Availability

The service is provided as it is. We will try to keep it running and your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and LARS should not be your only record of anything that matters. Keep your own copy of anything critical.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time, and your data goes with it. We may suspend an account that is being used to harm others or to break the law.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, LARS is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including a missed appointment, a forgotten task, or a reminder that did not arrive.

Law

French law applies, and the French courts have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
